Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on the purpose. For a visible copyright notice on photos you are sharing online, 50–70% opacity is typical — visible enough to deter copying, subtle enough not to ruin the image. For a subtle branding watermark on portfolio images, 20–40% works well. Avoid 100% opacity unless you want the watermark to be fully opaque.
Use a PNG with a transparent background. A transparent PNG will blend cleanly over your image with no white or coloured box around it. If your logo has a white background (e.g. a JPG), the background will show as a solid block over your image.
No. Everything runs in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your images never leave your device.
Currently this tool processes one image at a time. For batch watermarking of many files, you would need a dedicated desktop application such as Adobe Bridge or a command-line tool like ImageMagick.
If your image is small (e.g. under 500px wide) and your font size or watermark image is large relative to it, the result can look oversized or blurry. Try reducing the font size or watermark size percentage and repositioning. Using a high-resolution original image will always give the cleanest results.
